Privacy Policy
CampsiteScan exists to email you when a campsite opens up — not to collect data about you. This policy explains, in plain English, what we collect, why, and what we never do with it.
The short version
- We collect the minimum needed to run the service: your email, your campsite watches, and a payment record handled by Stripe.
- We never sell your data, never share it with advertisers, and run no ad trackers.
- Your card number never touches our servers — Stripe handles all payment details.
- Delete your account anytime; your data goes with it.
1. What we collect
- Account: your email address and a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider, Supabase — we can't read it). If you sign in with Google, we receive your email from Google; we get no access to your Google account beyond that.
- Your watches: the parks, dates, and search areas you set up, so we know what to check and where to send alerts. Location searches (e.g. "within 30 miles of Ojai") are places you type in — we never access your device's location.
- Billing: when you subscribe, Stripe collects your card details directly. We store only a Stripe customer reference and your subscription status (trialing, active, canceled) — never your card number.
- Emails we send: we keep a record of alerts sent to your account so your dashboard can show alert history.
- Technical basics: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) kept briefly for security and debugging. We run no analytics or advertising trackers.
2. What we use it for
Three things only: running the service (checking availability and sending your alerts), billing your subscription, and responding when you email us. That's the whole list. We don't build profiles, and we don't send marketing email — the only emails you'll get are alerts, receipts, and account or service notices.
3. Who else touches your data
We use a small set of service providers, each only for its job:
- Supabase — account sign-in and our database (hosted in the USA).
- Stripe — payments and subscription billing.
- Resend and email delivery providers — sending alert emails.
- Google Cloud — hosting the website.
Each processes your data under its own privacy and security terms, on our instructions. Beyond these, we disclose data only if the law requires it.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use browser storage for exactly two things: keeping you signed in and remembering your dark-mode preference. No third-party cookies, no cross-site tracking.
5. Keeping and deleting your data
- Your account data is kept while your account exists.
- Delete your account anytime from account settings — this removes your watches, alert history, and profile. Stripe retains billing records as required by financial regulations.
- Every alert email includes an unsubscribe link that pauses your watches instantly.
- You can request a copy of your data or its deletion via the contact form.
6. Security
Connections to the site are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are hashed, and database access is restricted. No internet service can promise perfect security, but we keep the amount of data worth stealing as small as possible — that's the best protection there is.
7. Children
CampsiteScan isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. Subscribing requires being 18 or older.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll email account holders and update the date at the top. Continued use after that means you accept the updated policy.
9. Contact
